The Crew

On the train, your crew is enthusiastic and committed to meeting your every need. Each is bursting with local and Grand Canyon folklore and history, as well as Grand Canyon Railway knowledge. The crew has many people that have different responsibilities all with the same ultimate purpose - getting you to the Grand Canyon.

Conductor

The conductor has general charge of the train and is responsible for the safety of passengers and crew aboard the train.

Brakeman

The brakeman assists the conductor with all responsibilities, including watching the wheels and brakes on the coaches, and assisting with passenger needs.

Engineer

The engineer operates the locomotive and is responsible for providing passengers with a smooth and safe ride.

Fireman

The fireman is responsible for maintaining required steam pressure. The fireman also assists the engineer with observing locomotive and track conditions.

Dispatcher

The dispatcher grants and coordinates track authorizations and acts as the train's communication center, much like an air traffic controller.

Passenger Service Attendant (PSA)

The PSAs take care of the passengers on the train. They are there to answer any questions, provide information about the train, canyon and the area, and make sure your trip is an enjoyable one.

More Than Locomotives Have Power

The Conductor is control of the train during the journey. And, a great source of knowledge. Don't be afraid to ask the Conductor a question or share a story.
