The Perfect Pumpkin Patch is Just a Train Ride Away
Hop on the Grand Canyon Railway’s Pumpkin Patch Train this fall
Just as Cinderella’s pumpkin magically transformed into a horse-drawn carriage, so will the Grand Canyon Railway transform its popular train into a festive Pumpkin Patch Train this fall. This special holiday experience will transport guests by train to a secret pumpkin patch, and offer a fun-filled afternoon filled with festive crafts and activities. To get into the holiday spirit, kids and parents are encouraged to wear Halloween costumes.
Upon arriving at the secret pumpkin patch, only accessible by train, passengers will have between 30 and 45 minutes to pick out the perfect pumpkin before returning to the Williams Depot to decorate it. A variety of Halloween-themed activities are available at the depot, including a walk-through Haunted Train Car, a hay bale maze, and pumpkin arts and crafts — all free to Pumpkin Patch Train passengers. Festive Halloween treats, such as pumpkin pie, hot apple cider, and hot chocolate, will also be available for purchase at the platform snack shop.
The 90-minute round-trip experience departs at 11:00 a.m., 1:00 p.m., and 3:00 p.m. on eight select days of October (Oct. 5-6, 12-13, 19-20, 26-27). Tickets include the cost of the train ride as well as one pumpkin per child.
The Pumpkin Patch Train presented by Grand Canyon Railway is also part of the annual Alpine Harvest Festival, a month-long celebration of the autumn season in Williams. Other attractions include Bearizona’s “Howly Growly Owly” fall festival, held on weekends in October and featuring open-air bus tours of the wildlife park and a scarecrow judging contest organized by the Williams Chamber of Commerce.
