Flagstaff Regional Office

Accounting Department:

Accounting Manager: FT

Accountable for overall payroll, accounts payable, and sales & cash functions for the Arizona region – Grand Canyon South Rim, Grand Canyon Railway and Petrified Forest. Manages, supervises, and trains accounting employees assigned to this position (payroll administrator, payroll clerk, sales and cash auditors, accounts payable (trade, retail and TA) associates, and mailroom/accounting clerk).  Ensures all accounting operations/functions are being completed timely and accurately. Prepares semi-annual check orders for the GCSR and GCR for payroll, direct deposit and accounts payable; verifies and logs checks once orders are received. Participates in the month end closing process as directed .Reconciles timely and accurately all assigned balance sheet accounts monthly. Maintains and develops spreadsheets in Excel to streamline audit procedures and track data more efficiently. Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or equivalent preferred. Minimum of five (5) years accounting experience, preferably in hospitality accounting management.  Ability to manage multiple tasks in an efficient manner.

Grand Canyon Railway Hotel:

Guest Service Agent I: FT

This position is responsible for greeting guests in a friendly manner, guest registration/checkout, collect payment, and provide property information to the guests, and other duties as assigned. Previous public contact work experience, ability to professionally and courteously interact with a broad cross-section of diverse guests, experience with computers and Windows based software, ability to properly and accurately handle cash and credit cards, and good verbal communication skills are a strong plus.

Guest Room Attendant/Housekeeper: FT

Duties include, but are not limited to: cleaning and stocking hotel rooms. Applicants must be dependable, hardworking with the ability to push housekeeping cart, and display good work ethics. Applicants must be available to work days, weekends, and holidays.

Public Area Attendant: PT SEASONAL

This is a part-time seasonal position at the GCR Hotel starting May 1, 2014 and ending approximately January 2015.  Duties include the cleanliness of the hotel and public areas (lobby, vending machines, etc.), including but not limited to: restocking supplies, transporting laundry carts, and lifting items weighing up to 60 lbs. Applicants must be available to work days, evenings, weekends and holidays.

Room Inspector: FT SEASONAL

This is a full-time seasonal position at the GCR Hotel starting May 1, 2014 and ending approximately January 2015.  This full time position is responsible for daily inspection of assigned area at the Grand Depot Hotel (guest rooms, linen rooms, hallways, grounds, etc.) to ensure cleanliness, safety and proper conditions meet or exceed departmental and company standards. The Room Inspector reports conditions and status of guest rooms to Front Desk in an efficient and timely manner. Applicant must be willing and able to perform the duties of Guest Room Attendant, Common Area, Utility and Bell staff. Applicants must be available to work days, weekends and holidays.

RV Park & Convenience Store:

Guest Service Agent: FT SEASONAL

This full-time seasonal position starting March 15, 2014 and ending approximately November 1, 2014.  Candidates must have excellent customer service & communication skills, cash handling/computer experience, along with enjoying working with people and pets. Applicants must be available to work split shifts, days, evenings, weekends and holidays.

Retail Sales Department:

Retail Sales Associate: PT

This is a part-time position.  Applicant must be available to work all shop hours; split-shifts (days/evenings), weekends and holidays. Applicants need to have computer experience and be able to operate point-of-sale terminal which includes cash, credit card, and voucher transactions; also exchanges and refunds.  Must be able to handle stressful situations in a public setting; be physically able to move merchandise (50 lbs. or more) from stockroom to shop display and assist with housekeeping duties of the shop.  Previous retail and/or cash handling experience preferred.

Train Operations / Williams Depot:

Passenger Service Attendant: PT

This is a part-time position working the day trains. The applicant for this position must have the qualifications as well as willing to be trained and work in all classes of service (coach through luxury). This is a fun job with opportunities to meet worldwide travelers. Good communication skills, ability to work with the public, ability to lift moderate loads and an excellent attitude required. Applicants must be available to work days, weekends and holidays.  Previous customer service and cash handling experience is desired. Daily shuttle is provided from Flagstaff and Ash Fork; based on space availability.

Ticket Agent: FT

Under direction of the Ticketing Supervisor, the Ticketing Agent is responsible for ensuring all daily function are completed at the Ticket Counter. Duties include but not limited to: ensuring accurate batching of train tickets, confirming reservations, answering phones, issuing and explaining train tickets to passengers. This position requires good judgment skills and the ability to communicate in a professional manner. Applicant must; have a good working knowledge of windows based software; good organizational skills; be a strong team player and have good communication skills; be able to effectively handle stressful situations in a public setting; possess good interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate professionally, effectively and clearly face-to-face, and in written communication.2 years customer service experience in a hospitality industry; and bilingual skills are a plus.

Trackman: FT

This position is an extremely physical job that requires shovel work. Job duties include replacing railroad ties and rails; assist in repair of bridges and clean right-of-ways. Applicant must be willing and able to use hydraulic tools and equipment to perform job duties: tie tamper, spike tamper and impact wrench. The applicant must be able to lift and carry 50 to 75 pounds frequently during the shift without assistance and 100 pounds occasionally without assistance. Applicant must be able to work in all types of inclement weather conditions. Employment is contingent upon successfully qualifying in Roadway Worker class. Applicants must be available to work days, weekends, and holidays; and may be called out to work extra shifts (snow removal and fire patrols during Red Flag conditions.

Car Cleaner: PT

This is a Part Time position; the work schedule for this position is typically from 5:30 PM to 1:30 AM. During Polar season crews may be split between days/night crews. This is truly a cleaning position for the passenger car fleet of the railway! Vacuum and clean seats, carpets and upholstery; polish metal surfaces, sweep and mop floors; empty trash cans; regularly wash interior and exterior of the windows, clean walls, ceilings, restrooms, service areas and exterior of train car; fill fresh water tanks; drain waste water systems using a mechanical pump truck. Job duties include cleaning the Car Shop and when necessary snow removal. This position requires climbing ladders, reaching above shoulder height, stooping, bending, and the use of hand and power tools and equipment. Employment is contingent upon successfully qualifying in Blue Signal class.

Food & Beverage Department:

Assistant Kitchen Manager: FT

This is a full-time assistant kitchen management position.  The primary function of this position is the overall efficient operation of the Grand Depot Café and Spenser’s kitchens and all banquet functions.  This position must divide their time between insuring the guest experience is first and foremost, cook line operations, developing recipes, active line cooking, labor management, product storage HACCP and FIFO guidelines are followed.  Desire Qualifications: Two (2) years Sous chef or head chef in a high volume buffet setting with action stations or institutional establishment; ability to train kitchen personnel in all areas of operation; written and verbal communication skills to effectively motivate the staff to the expected Xanterra’s standard of excellence in guest service; experience in menu development, food production records, scheduling and inventory/cost controls; experience in MS Word and Excel.  This position requires shift flexibility including working days, evenings, weekends, and holidays. This position requires a valid/clear Arizona Driver’s License.

Cashier: PT

This is a part-time position for the Grand Depot Café and/or Java Crossing. This position is responsible for accuracy of cash drawer/deposit and following cash handling practices and policies, greeting guests and seeking how many are in guest’s party; completing side duties, stocking supplies and being a team player. Applicants must be 19 or older with previous customer service and cashiering experience preferred.  Knowledgeable about the various types of beer and wine strongly preferred. Applicants must be available to work days, evenings, weekends and holidays.

Cook 2: FT

This is a full-time, mid-level cook position in the Grand Depot Cafe. Previous three (3) years experience as a cook in high volume ala carte dining or institutional cooking experience preferred. Applicants should have basic knife skills and be knowledgeable in food service sanitation. Applicants must be available to work days, evenings, weekends and holidays.

Cook 4: FT

This is a full-time entry-level cooking position in the Grand Depot Cafe.  Previous one (1) year or less experience as a cook in fast food industry or high volume ala carte dining or institutional cooking experience preferred.  Applicants should have basic knife skills and be knowledgeable in food service sanitation. Applicants must be available to work days, evenings, weekends and holidays.

Facilities & Maintenance Department:

Maintenance Engineer IV: FT

This position works the third shift which may start at 9:00/10:00 PM – 7:00/8:00 AM.   Minimum one-year experience in general building maintenance or in trades such as electrical, plumbing or carpentry is desired.  Position requires a valid Arizona Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) – Must possess or obtain within 90 days air brake and passenger endorsements. Must be able to comply with the Xanterra/GCR Company Vehicle Policy.  Possess physical ability to perform tasks of the position including entering confined spaces, ascending/descending ladder, lifting up to 100 pounds and occasionally crawling, pushing and pulling. Should possess the ability to use basic hand and power tools common to the maintenance industry.

Maintenance Engineer II: FT

This is a full-time position in the Maintenance department. Duties include general maintenance requests, ensuring timely completion, thoroughness and cost effectiveness. Assist in maintaining water softeners according to preventive maintenance schedule in designated areas, including maintaining salt inventory. Handle multiple call-outs or work orders, work independently and perform trade call outs as necessary. Operate designated heavy equipment safely and efficiently as necessary and directed. Perform second level maintenance and repairs as related to the preventive maintenance program. Ability to perform second level trade functions such as electrical motor trouble shooting to 220 volts, plumbing, refrigeration/HVAC, basic boiler operation and kitchen equipment repair. Complete Lock Out / Tag Out Training. Perform basic carpentry and painting duties as necessary and directed. Report maintenance problems in an accurate fashion that require trade specific skill and attention. Adhere to all safety, risk management and environmental policies and procedures. Wear all required personal protective equipment in carrying out assigned tasks. Work various shifts as required. Assist in the training and development of lower General Maintenance grades. Minimum three-years experience in general building maintenance, or in trades such as electrical, refrigeration, plumbing, etc..  Competent in all areas of the position: General Maintenance III, knowledge of concrete, tile and basic welding. Position requires a valid Arizona driver’s license to be able to comply with the Xanterra/GCR Company Vehicle Policy.

Painter II: FT

This position reports to the Maintenance Manager.  The qualified applicant will have a minimum of three years experience as a commercial painter, be able to prepare all types of surfaces for painting including tape and texture of drywall, and possess an Arizona Driver’s License.  Working knowledge of National Fire Code requirements pertaining to storage and use of paint products a plus.  This is a full time position painting exterior and interior surfaces, maintaining a high level of quality control.  Physical requirements of the job include ascending/descending ladders, lifting and carrying loads of 50+ lbs unassisted, and repetitive motions.

Maintenance Engineer III: FT TEMPORARY

This is a full-time temporary position in the Maintenance department starting ASAP and ending approximately February 28, 2014.  Applicants must be available to work days, evenings, nights, weekends and holidays. One-year experience in general maintenance or in trades such as electrical, plumbing or carpentry is preferred. Maintenance personnel maintain the roofing, plumbing, mechanical, environmental and electrical systems. Additional duties include construction projects, painting, custodial functions and baggage handling. Personnel drive motor vehicles and motorized specialty equipment such as mowers, sweepers and electric service vehicles. This position also requires the use of hand tools, power tools and safety equipment. Position requires a valid Arizona driver’s license to be able to comply with the Xanterra/GCR Company Vehicle Policy. 

Groundskeeper: FT

Desired candidate will possess; minimum one-year experience in turf and shrub care or landscape maintenance, knowledge of lawn care equipment including use and maintenance, physical ability to complete tasks including ability to push lawn mower, load clippings, ascend and descend ladders, ability to work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions including summer heat and winter storms. A valid/Clear AZ Driver’s License is required.
