Flagstaff Regional Office
Staff Accountant: FT
Under the direction of the Flagstaff Regional Office Assistant Controller, the Senior Accountant is responsible for multiple accounting functions and financial reporting. Must have Bachelor’s Degree in Business or Finance with related accounting experience. Accounting degree is a plus but not a requirement. Minimum of three (3) years accounting experience and prior experience in completing journal entries, balance sheet account reconciliations, financial reporting to outside entities, and creating and analyzing financial statements preferred. Must possess a valid Arizona Driver’s License and be able to comply with the Xanterra Vehicle Policy.
Accounting Manager: FT
Accountable for overall payroll, accounts payable, and sales & cash functions for the Arizona region – Grand Canyon South Rim, Grand Canyon Railway and Petrified Forest. Manages, supervises, and trains accounting employees assigned to this position (payroll administrator, payroll clerk, sales and cash auditors, accounts payable (trade, retail and TA) associates, and mailroom/accounting clerk). Ensures all accounting operations/functions are being completed timely and accurately. Prepares semi-annual check orders for the GCSR and GCR for payroll, direct deposit and accounts payable; verifies and logs checks once orders are received. Participates in the month end closing process as directed .Reconciles timely and accurately all assigned balance sheet accounts monthly. Maintains and develops spreadsheets in Excel to streamline audit procedures and track data more efficiently. Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or equivalent preferred. Minimum of five (5) years accounting experience, preferably in hospitality accounting management. Ability to manage multiple tasks in an efficient manner.
Accounting Clerk II: FT
This is a full-time position at the Flagstaff office to assist with the timely and accurate processing of all approved trade and retail payable invoices incurred by the Grand Canyon Railway and Grand Canyon South Rim properties. This position will be responsible for batching, entering and editing approved invoicing for twice a week A/P check runs; ensure that checks are distributed and mailed, including remittance advices; helping to maintain vendor files; filing of A/P reports; reconciling vendor statements; assisting vendors and company departments regarding invoices or other related accounts payable issues; and participating in the month-end closing process, as necessary. Other duties may include the participation in record retention of A/P records according to company policy, annual retail inventories, consignment sales tracking, and other miscellaneous tasks/projects, as needed. Applicant must possess good organizational skills and have computer experience with a working knowledge of Excel spreadsheets. Previous accounting (A/P) experience preferred.
Sales & Marketing Department:
Sales Office Clerk: FT
Positions available; full-time year round. This position is responsible for the typing, filing, and general clerical duties related to the Sales Department; compile and distribute the weekly Activity sheet and Guarantee sheet; distribute 30 and 20-day checks on all groups to the appropriate sales agent account representative. Responsible for answering, screening and routing of telephone calls in a professional and courteous manner. Accurate message taking and delivery. Assist sales agents as needed. Assist in the mailing of fulfillment pieces and other such functions of the Sales Department. Advise the Group Sales Director of all work in progress. Organize and order office supplies. Manage meal coupon flow and distribution. Other duties as assigned. Use and knowledge of word processing programs, preferably Microsoft Word. Good telephone communication. Knowledge of administrative office procedures and equipment.
Staffing Manager: FT
Position primarily is responsible for filling approved/open positions with qualified personnel in a timely manner. Effective communication and organizational skills are key. Responsibilities include coordinating recruiting process (timely placement of advertising/job fair attendance, etc.); pre-screening and interviewing qualified applicants; verifying employment eligibility, and extending job offers. This position also provides support for HR-related programs; policies and initiatives in a variety of HR related functions and special projects. Strong staffing and recruiting background with generalist experience preferred to assist with employee related matters. Position reports to Dir. of Human Resources. Individual must have excellent interpersonal and problem solving skills, including excellent verbal and written communication skills. Accuracy and attention to detail are a must. Position requires the ability to handle sensitive information in a confidential manner. Bilingual language skills (English/Spanish) are a plus. Must be proficient in Word and Excel and have the ability to learn and use new software effectively. Lawson, Kronos & Outlook experience a plus.
Grand Canyon Railway Hotel:
Guest Service Agent I: FT
This position is responsible for greeting guests in a friendly manner, guest registration/checkout, collect payment, and provide property information to the guests, and other duties as assigned. Previous public contact work experience, ability to professionally and courteously interact with a broad cross-section of diverse guests, experience with computers and Windows based software, ability to properly and accurately handle cash and credit cards, and good verbal communication skills are a strong plus.
Guest Room Attendants/Housekeepers: FT
Duties include, but are not limited to: cleaning and stocking hotel rooms. Applicants must be dependable, hardworking with the ability to push housekeeping cart, and display good work ethics. Applicants must be available to work days, weekends, and holidays.
Public Area Attendant: FT
This is a full-time position at the GCR Hotel. Duties include the cleanliness of the hotel and public areas (lobby, vending machines, etc.), including but not limited to: restocking supplies, transporting laundry carts, and lifting items weighing up to 60 lbs. Applicants must be available to work days, evenings, weekends and holidays.
Guest Service Agent I: FT SEASONAL
This full-time seasonal position starting April 1, 2014 and ending approximately June 15, 2014. Bell Attendant: FT SEASONAL
This is a full-time seasonal position at the GCR Hotel starting May 1, 2014 and ending approximately January 2015. This position requires that the employee be able to work as early as 6 a.m. or a later shift that may run until 11 p.m. Applicants must be reliable, have good communication skills, and enjoy working with the public. Aside from Bell Staff duties, applicant is responsible for some other housekeeping duties. These may include, but are not limited to: restocking supplies, transport of laundry carts and attending to the common areas of the hotel. Applicants must be physically able to lift up to 50 lb suitcases; load them onto a rolling cart and be available to work weekdays, evenings, weekends and holidays.
Room Inspector: FT SEASONAL
This is a full-time seasonal position at the GCR Hotel starting May 1, 2014 and ending approximately January 2015. This full time position is responsible for daily inspection of assigned area at the Grand Depot Hotel (guest rooms, linen rooms, hallways, grounds, etc.) to ensure cleanliness, safety and proper conditions meet or exceed departmental and company standards. The Room Inspector reports conditions and status of guest rooms to Front Desk in an efficient and timely manner. Applicant must be willing and able to perform the duties of Guest Room Attendant, Common Area, Utility and Bell staff. Applicants must be available to work days, weekends and holidays.
Guest Service Agent II: FT SEASONAL
This full-time seasonal position starting March 15, 2014 and ending approximately November 1, 2013. Candidates must have excellent customer service & communication skills, cash handling/computer experience, along with enjoying working with people and pets. Retail Sales Associate: PT
This is a part-time position. Applicant must be available to work all shop hours; split-shifts (days/evenings), weekends and holidays. Applicants need to have computer experience and be able to operate point-of-sale terminal which includes cash, credit card, and voucher transactions; also exchanges and refunds. Must be able to handle stressful situations in a public setting; be physically able to move merchandise (50 lbs. or more) from stockroom to shop display and assist with housekeeping duties of the shop. Previous retail and/or cash handling experience preferred.
Environmental Health & Safety Department:
Security Guard: FT
Under direction of Risk Manager, this position is full-time and is responsible for insuring the safety and security of all Grand Canyon Railway properties by conducting regular inspections of all facilities; documenting the night’s incidences and informing the Risk Manager and Manager on Duty. The applicant must be able to calmly deal with medical, fire, security and safety situations. Applicant must possess excellent written, verbal, and problem solving skills; plus ability to interact effectively and in a non-confrontational manner with guests, employees and other designated officials. Applicant must have a clear/valid Arizona driver’s license; possess evidence of current training in First Aid, CPR and AED or become certified within 60 days of hire. Previous experience in security and/or law enforcement helpful.
Train Operations / Williams Depot:
Regional Project Manager: FT
Under direction of the General Manager, the Project Manager will be responsible for the complete execution of the following principle duties and responsibilities related to project management at the Grand Canyon Railway & Hotel, The Grand Hotel and Petrified Forest. Minimum three-years’ experience as facility manager in a multi-unit facility, preferably a hotel/resort operation, or a minimum of three years’ experience in the construction management field is desired. Knowledge of physical plant operations including boilers, generators, pumps, water/waste treatment, gas/fuel lines, and power lines. Applicant must possess ability to read blue prints and the understanding of CADD software and possess knowledge of construction, mechanical and specialized trade skills and their current codes. Working knowledge of LEED or other green building and operation standards and project management experience including cost estimating, bid notices, and contract negotiations is desired. Experience with Word, Excel, and various engineering software programs required. Must have knowledge of rules, regulations, and laws concerning environmental issues, risk management, and safety. Must possess the physical agility to ascend/descend a ladder or scaffolding, tour construction sites, and enter confined space. Must possess or obtain a valid/clear Arizona Driver’s License and comply with Grand Canyon Railway & Hotel Vehicle Policy.
Passenger Service Attendant: PT
This is a part-time position working the day trains. The applicant for this position must have the qualifications as well as willing to be trained and work in all classes of service (coach through luxury). This is a fun job with opportunities to meet worldwide travelers. Good communication skills, ability to work with the public, ability to lift moderate loads and an excellent attitude required. Applicants must be available to work days, weekends and holidays. Previous customer service and cash handling experience is desired. Daily shuttle is provided from Flagstaff and Ash Fork; based on space availability.
Ticket Agent: PT (SEASONAL)
This is a part-time seasonal position in the Ticketing Office; starting March 1, 2014 to approximately January 1, 2015. Weekends and evening shifts a must. Make and confirm train reservations with guests in person and issue tickets; provide information about GCR, South Rim, and Williams areas; must have computer skills, cash handling, and customer service experience. Applicant must be available to work days, evenings, weekends and holidays.
Food & Beverage Department:
Assistant Kitchen Manager: FT
This is a full-time assistant kitchen management position. The primary function of this position is the overall efficient operation of the Grand Depot Café and Spenser’s kitchens and all banquet functions. This position must divide their time between insuring the guest experience is first and foremost, cook line operations, developing recipes, active line cooking, labor management, product storage HACCP and FIFO guidelines are followed. Desire Qualifications: Two (2) years Sous chef or head chef in a high volume buffet setting with action stations or institutional establishment; ability to train kitchen personnel in all areas of operation; written and verbal communication skills to effectively motivate the staff to the expected Xanterra’s standard of excellence in guest service; experience in menu development, food production records, scheduling and inventory/cost controls; experience in MS Word and Excel. This position requires shift flexibility including working days, evenings, weekends, and holidays. This position requires a valid/clear Arizona Driver’s License.
This is a part-time position for the Grand Depot Café and/or Java Crossing. This position is responsible for accuracy of cash drawer/deposit and following cash handling practices and policies, greeting guests and seeking how many are in guest’s party; completing side duties, stocking supplies and being a team player. Applicants must be 19 or older with previous customer service and cashiering experience preferred. Knowledgeable about the various types of beer and wine strongly preferred. Applicants must be available to work days, evenings, weekends and holidays.
Train Prep: PT
This is a part-time position working days, weekends and Holidays. Prepare menu/recipe items to GCR standards and specifications. Always follow the recipe manual when preparing food. Maintain a clean, safe and sanitary work area. Communicate with ticketing for train and car counts. Establish prep needs based on counts. Prepare all special event trays and fruit platters for the menu. Follow the proper first in first out (FIFO) rotation for stored foods. Keep prep area swept, mopped and free of water. Keep shelving and storage areas clean and organized. Utilize all systems such as train prep sheets, car capacity, food weights and waste sheets. Perform all daily cleaning assignments on Cleaning Schedule and Closing Checklist. Applicants must be able to lift up to 25 lbs. on a continual basis and be able to lift up to 70 lbs. several times per day. Perform repetitive motions for up to 45 minutes at a time.
This is a part-time at the Grand Depot Café. The “Expo” person is responsible for sorting dishes at the dish tank in the kitchen. The Server brings in trays or tubs of dirty dishes from the tables and hands it off to the Expo who empties the tray or tub for the kitchen utility staff to clean. This is a very busy position and the qualified candidate will need to be able to lift 30 to 40 lbs frequently during the shift. Occasionally the Expo will help the Servers in the dining room by clearing tables for them and carrying the bus tubs to the kitchen.
Facilities & Maintenance Department:
HVAC Technician I: FT
Requires; four years’ experience in Refrigeration mechanics & HVAC, valid “Refrigeration Handling & Recovery” certificate; ability to repair or replace domestic & commercial air conditioning, heating & refrigeration equipment & ice cube machines, ranging from fractional horsepower up to 100 ton; ability to dehydrate refrigeration systems with use of a vacuum pump; read & use refrigeration analyzing meters; work w/ voltages ranging from 0-480, single & 3-phase; ability to read refrigeration & electric schematics; ability to troubleshoot refrigeration control circuits; ability to repair circulating pumps & motors used on cooling towers & chiller systems; ability to drain & winterize evaporative coolers, refrigeration equipment & ice cube machines; ability to join refrigeration copper, steel & aluminum piping; identify size of pipe & run steel or plastic pipe for cooling system; ability to conduct daily inspections of refrigeration equipment to determine if equipment is in proper working condition; ability to repair heating systems, which includes heat pumps & electric heat strips ranging from 0-480 volts. Must possess valid/clear A.Z. D.L. and physical ability to perform tasks, including entering confined spaces, ascending/descending ladders, & lifting.
Desired candidate will possess; minimum one-year experience in turf and shrub care or landscape maintenance, knowledge of lawn care equipment including use and maintenance, physical ability to complete tasks including ability to push lawn mower, load clippings, ascend and descend ladders, ability to work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions including summer heat and winter storms. A valid/Clear AZ Driver’s License is required.
Maintenance Engineer II: FT
This is a full-time position in the Maintenance department .Applicants must be available to work days, evenings, nights, weekends and holidays. Three-years’ experience in general building maintenance or in trades such as electrical, refrigeration, plumbing, etc. is preferred. Performs 2nd level trade function; such as electrical trouble shooting. Required to be competent in all areas of ENG III; knowledge of concrete, tile and basic welding. Maintenance personnel handle multiple call-out work orders as necessary, works independently, ensuring timely completion, thoroughness and cost effectiveness. This position assists in training and developing lower General Maintenance grades. Personnel drive motor vehicles, motorized specialty equipment and operate designated heavy equipment; safely and efficiently as directed. Position requires a valid Arizona driver’s license to be able to comply with the Xanterra/GCR Company Vehicle Policy. Possess or obtain within 90 days, Class A CDL with Passenger Endorsement.
Maintenance Engineer III: FT TEMPORARY
This is a full-time temporary position in the Maintenance department starting ASAP and ending approximately February 28, 2014. Applicants must be available to work days, evenings, nights, weekends and holidays. One-year experience in general maintenance or in trades such as electrical, plumbing or carpentry is preferred. Maintenance personnel maintain the roofing, plumbing, mechanical, environmental and electrical systems. Additional duties include construction projects, painting, custodial functions and baggage handling. Personnel drive motor vehicles and motorized specialty equipment such as mowers, sweepers and electric service vehicles. This position also requires the use of hand tools, power tools and safety equipment. Position requires a valid Arizona driver’s license to be able to comply with the Xanterra/GCR Company Vehicle Policy.
