Flagstaff Location

Accounting:

Senior Accountant: FT

Under the direction of the Flagstaff Regional Office Assistant Controller, the Senior Accountant is responsible for multiple accounting functions and financial reporting. Must have Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or equivalent. Minimum of three (3) years accounting experience and prior experience in completing journal entries, balance sheet account reconciliations, financial reporting to outside entities, and creating and analyzing financial statements preferred. Must possess a valid Arizona Driver’s License and be able to comply with the Xanterra Vehicle Policy.

Reservation/Sales Department:

Sales Office Clerk: FT SEASONAL

This is a full-time seasonal position starting ASAP through approximately October 15, 2013. This position is responsible for the typing, filing, and general clerical duties related to the Sales Department; compile and distribute the weekly Activity sheet and Guarantee sheet; distribute 30 and 20-day checks on all groups to the appropriate sales agent account representative. Responsible for answering, screening and routing of telephone calls in a professional and courteous manner.  Accurate message taking and delivery. Assist sales agents as needed. Assist in the mailing of fulfillment pieces and other such functions of the Sales Department. Advise the Group Sales Director of all work in progress. Organize and order office supplies. Manage meal coupon flow and distribution. Other duties as assigned.  Use and knowledge of word processing programs, preferably Microsoft Word. Good telephone communication. Knowledge of administrative office procedures and equipment.

Hotel:

Guest Service Agent Lead: FT 

This is a full-time position at the Hotel Front Desk; must be able to work days, evenings, weekends and holidays.  This position requires experience with computers and Windows-type software.  The qualified applicant will have the ability to work professionally and courteously with a broad cross-section of diverse people. Assist assigned GSAs in resolving discrepancies and balancing; report outstanding discrepancies to Desk Manager or Assistant; approve adjustments and paid outs following established guidelines.  Assist in the training and supervision of incoming GSAs; constantly monitor GSAs performance and appearance, report to Desk Manager as necessary. Provide property and Grand Canyon National Park information to guests; register guests; post charges; collect payment; maintain bank; do end of shift bank balance and deposits; maintain strict guest security.  This position will work closely with Unit Housekeeping department and Bell Staff.

Room Inspector: FT SEASONAL

This is a full-time seasonal position at the GCR Hotel starting ASAP and ending approximately January 2014.  This full time position is responsible for daily inspection of assigned area at the Grand Depot Hotel (guest rooms, linen rooms, hallways, grounds, etc.) to ensure cleanliness, safety and proper conditions meet or exceed departmental and company standards. The Room Inspector reports conditions and status of guest rooms to Front Desk in an efficient and timely manner. Applicant must be willing and able to perform the duties of Guest Room Attendant, Common Area, Utility and Bell staff. Applicants must be available to work days, weekends and holidays.

Bell Attendant: PT SEASONAL

This is a part-time seasonal position at the GCR Hotel starting ASAP and ending approximately January 2014.  This position requires that the employee be able to work as early as 6 a.m. or a later shift that may run until 11 p.m.  Applicants must be reliable, have good communication skills, and enjoy working with the public. Aside from Bell Staff duties, applicant is responsible for some other housekeeping duties. These may include, but are not limited to: restocking supplies, transport of laundry carts and attending to the common areas of the hotel. Applicants must be physically able to lift up to 50 lb suitcases; load them onto a rolling cart and be available to work weekdays, evenings, weekends and holidays.

RV Park & ‘C’ Store:

Guest Service Agent II: FT  SEASONAL

This full-time seasonal position starting ASAP and ending approximately November 1, 2013.  Candidates must have excellent customer service & communication skills, cash handling/computer experience, along with enjoying working with people and pets. Applicants must be available to work split shifts, days, evenings, weekends and holidays.

Grand Canyon Railway Operations / Depot:

Trainmaster: FT

This position reports directly to the General Manager of Train Operations and is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the Grand Canyon Railway passenger and work train operations.  This position will work with FRA official to ensure complete compliance in all areas of GCR train operations and track maintenance.  Candidates for this position must be a certified locomotive engineer and conductor.  Must have knowledge of functions associated with the train operation and mechanical departments. Candidates also must have previous experience in a railroad supervisory position and knowledge of current FRA regulations and operating rules.  Three years of prior railroad experience required.

Train Dispatcher: PT  

This position primarily works during the daytime but must be available to work based on the train schedules.  This position is primarily responsible for ensuring that the Grand Canyon Railway (GCR) operates in a safe and efficient manner.  Qualifications and requirements include the ability to multi-task, be detail-oriented, and able to work in a stressful environment.  Employment is contingent upon successful completion of GCOR Class.  The Dispatcher may also be required to work as work as brakeman, diesel fireman, or other positions based on individual qualifications and staffing requirements.  Applicants must be available to work weekends and holidays.

Trackman: FT

This position is an extremely physical job that requires shovel work. Job duties include replacing railroad ties and rails; assist in repair of bridges and clean right-of-ways. Applicant must be willing and able to use hydraulic tools and equipment to perform job duties: tie tamper, spike tamper and impact wrench. The applicant must be able to lift and carry 50 to 75 pounds frequently during the shift without assistance and 100 pounds occasionally without assistance. Applicant must be able to work in all types of inclement weather conditions. Employment is contingent upon successfully qualifying in Roadway Worker class. Applicants must be available to work days, weekends, and holidays; and may be called out to work extra shifts (snow removal and fire patrols during Red Flag conditions.

AM CARMAN: FT

The AM Carman is responsible for making inspections, running repairs and servicing of the GCR in-service passenger cars. The AM Carman works the morning hours, without immediate supervision and may be involved in the assembly and makeup of trains following established rules and procedures. Good judgment, good communication skills and the ability to understand written and oral instructions are required. The ability to communicate face-to-face and via hand held radio is a must,  This position is contingent upon the successful completion of GCOR class, the ability to walk trackside a distance of one mile continuously, successfully passing drug screen to meet FRA regulations, and the ability to successfully release a minimum of 5 hand brakes consecutively and efficiently.  A valid/clear Arizona Driver’s License is required.

HVAC Technician II: FT 

The HVAC Technician II performs routine preventive maintenance on HVAC/R systems according to established schedules. Requires; Knowledge of HVAC & electrical concepts normally acquired through 3 years of related experience; EPA universal cert; good oral & written communication skills; ability to read & interpret documents such as safety rules, operating/maintenance instructions & procedure manuals; ability to add, subtract, multiply, & divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, &decimals; ability to exercise independent judgment & decision-making capability in the absence of direct supervision. Position requires a valid/clear A.Z. D.L. Previous experience in an HVAC Tech position in a railroad industry is a plus.

Passenger Service Attendant Supervisor: PT

This is a part-time position. The Passenger Service Supervisor is responsible for helping to ensure the quality of our passenger’s experience and that necessary daily train supplies are loaded and readily available. Inspects passenger cars for appearance and cleanliness and ensures meeting daily staffing requirements. Delegates work detail and car assignments to staff daily; assists guests car or seating reassignments as required. Position is responsible for auditing the performance of PSA staff and assisting with training and holds on-board staff meetings, uniform inspections and completes disciplinary write-ups and action as required. Requires the ability to operate a computer and function well in a windows operating environment. Applicant must have the ability to deal with difficult people and situations with grace and professionalism when called upon to do so. PT supervisors may occasionally be required to fill in as a passenger service attendant. Requires well developed customer service, people and supervisory skills. Other duties as assigned by the PSA Manager. Shuttle transportation may be provided from Flagstaff and/or Ash Fork; will depend upon available space. Position requires a valid Arizona driver’s license to be able to comply with the Xanterra/GCR Company Vehicle Policy.

Food & Beverage Department:

GDC FOH Supervisor: PT

This is a floor supervisory position that requires coordination between staffing and business levels assisting where necessary to accommodate guest service. This position is 95% active floor supervision with approximately 5% administrative duties. Require at least 6 months previous experience in food service management with ability to provide leadership and communication skills to effectively motivate staff to Xanterra Parks & Resorts hospitality standards. Some working knowledge of MS Word & Excel software.

Cook4: FT

This is a part-time entry-level cooking position in the Grand Depot Cafe.  Previous one (1) year or less experience as a cook in fast food industry or high volume ala carte dining or institutional cooking experience preferred.  Applicants should have basic knife skills and be knowledgeable in food service sanitation. Applicants must be available to work days, evenings, weekends and holidays.

Kitchen Utility GDC: FT  

This is a Full-time position at The Grand Depot Café.  Applicant must be available to work days, evenings, weekends and holidays.  Clean dishes, operate dish machine and wash pots.  Physically demanding position requiring bending and lifting and exposure to wet floors occurs.

Expeditor: PT

This is a part time seasonal Expeditor Position The “Expo” person is responsible for sorting dishes at the dish tank in the kitchen.  The Server brings in trays or tubs of dirty dishes from the tables and hands it off to the Expo who empties the tray or tub for the kitchen utility staff to clean.  This is a very busy position and the qualified candidate will need to be able to lift 30 to 40 lbs frequently during the shift.  Occasionally the Expo will help the Servers in the dining room by clearing tables for them and carrying the bus tubs to the kitchen.

Server Spenser’s: PT  

This is a part-time position at Spenser’s. Applicants must be available to work afternoons, evenings, weekends and holidays. The food service at Spenser’s is menu order. The Server takes beverage and meal orders, including alcoholic beverages, and delivers them to the guests, as well as filling other guest dining requests.  Applicant must be able to multi-task; be able to lift and carry tray of beverages/plates at shoulder height.  Prefer applicants to be over 21 with previous alcohol servicing experience.

Server: PT

Applicants must be available to work afternoons, evenings, weekends and holidays. The food service at The Grand Depot Cafe is buffet style dining. The Server takes beverage orders, and delivers them to the guests, as well as filling other guest dining requests.  Applicant must; be 19 years of age or older; able to multi-task; be able to lift and carry trays of beverages/plates at shoulder height.  Prefer applicants to have previous experience as a server including previous alcohol servicing experience.

This is a part-time seasonal Host position starting ASAP and ending approximately January 5, 2014. Applicant must be available to work days, evenings, weekends and holidays. This position is responsible for greeting and seating guest appropriately and efficiently; complete side duties and be a team player. Responsible to meet, greet and seat guests in Grand Depot Café and other duties as assigned.

 

Facilities Maintenance Department:

Grounds Supervisor: FT    

This is a full-time position in the Facilities Maintenance department. This position assists in the day to day operation of safely maintaining the grounds, irrigation systems and landscaping of Grand Canyon Railway property. This position is responsible for an effective weed abatement and control program; maintain programs to care for the trees, shrubs and vegetation on property, including disease identification, fertilization, trimming, pruning, planting and transplanting; dispose of clippings/trimmings properly. Responsible for adhering to the preventive maintenance program on all assigned power tools, mowers, etc. In addition this position is responsible for the maintenance program which provides our guest, visitors and employees with a safe and clear walkway at the platform, on sidewalks and driving path in parking lots and driveways. Prefer a minimum of four-year work related experience. Position requires a valid Arizona driver’s license to be able to comply with the Xanterra/GCR Company Vehicle Policy.

Lead Maintenance Engineer: FT

Under direction of the Facilities Manager, Assistant Manager, and/or Supervisor, the Lead Maintenance Engineer is responsible for overseeing the duties of the facilities craft personnel. Desired Qualifications; min. (4) years related experience, strong knowledge of the hospitality industry as it relates to Engineering functions; good verbal and written communication skills with ability to give directions clearly; basic knowledge of Word and Excel software, and working knowledge of National Uniform Building. Must; be flexible to work scheduled days, evenings, weekends and holidays, be willing and able to obtain a CPO certificate within 90 days upon hire. Position requires a valid/clear AZ DL, and the ability to obtain a CDL within 180 days upon hire.

Groundskeeper: FT SEASONAL

This is a full-time seasonal position starting May 10, 2013 and ending approximately September 30 2013.  Desired candidate will possess; minimum one-year experience in turf and shrub care or landscape maintenance, knowledge of lawn care equipment including use and maintenance, physical ability to complete tasks including ability to push lawn mower, load clippings, ascend and descend ladders, ability to work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions including summer heat and winter storms. A valid/Clear AZ Driver’s License is required.

Maintenance Engineer IV: FT

This position works the third shift which may start at 9:00/10:00 PM – 7:00/8:00 AM.   Minimum one-year experience in general building maintenance or in trades such as electrical, plumbing or carpentry is desired.  Position requires a valid Arizona Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) – Must possess or obtain within 90 days air brake and passenger endorsements. Must be able to comply with the Xanterra/GCR Company Vehicle Policy.  Possess physical ability to perform tasks of the position including entering confined spaces, ascending/descending ladder, lifting up to 100 pounds and occasionally crawling, pushing and pulling. Should possess the ability to use basic hand and power tools common to the maintenance industry.
