I.T. Department:

IT Manager: FT

This is an Exempt position reporting to the Regional Director of IT.  Oversees the corporate and local hospitality systems portfolio which includes lodging, F&B, retail, Sales & Catering, PBX/voice systems and maintenance management implemented in their assigned property location as well as desktop and IT infrastructure support for the assigned property.  Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or Business Administration with a concentration in Information Technology, Hospitality Administration or Accounting.  Significant work experience can substitute for formal education.  5-10 years of IT experience is required with a background in hospitality-based systems strongly preferred along with MCSE and CCNA certifications.  Project Management skills are preferred.  Employee must have a working knowledge of various platforms including Windows, SQL, Oracle, AS/400 (where appropriate) and other tools and utilities such as Microsoft Exchange, Citrix, and Microsoft Terminal Services.  Certification such as Microsoft Certified Professional or Engineer is preferred.  Position requires a valid/clear Arizona Driver’s License.  Must be able to comply with the Xanterra/GCR Company Vehicle Policy.

Environmental Health & Safety Department:

Risk Manager: FT

Oversee property’s risk management and safety programs, maintaining compliance with relevant regulations for all operations.  Work with line management to ensure that safety programs are understood and implemented. Develop company-wide safety programs and work to ensure proper implementation and documentation. Processes workers’ compensation claims:  completing and submitting claims paperwork in a timely manner check, claim status and provide additional information as requested, assisting employees with claim requirements and questions, and working with managers and supervisors on return to work and paperwork issues.

Security Guard: FT

Under direction of Risk Manager, this position is full-time and is responsible for insuring the safety and security of all Grand Canyon Railway properties by conducting regular inspections of all facilities; documenting the night’s incidences and informing the Risk Manager and Manager on Duty. The applicant must be able to calmly deal with medical, fire, security and safety situations. Applicant must possess excellent written, verbal, and problem solving skills; plus ability to interact effectively and in a non-confrontational manner with guests, employees and other designated officials. Applicant must have a clear/valid Arizona driver’s license; possess evidence of current training in First Aid, CPR and AED or become certified within 60 days of hire. Previous experience in security and/or law enforcement helpful.

RV Park & Convenience Store:

RV Park & Kennel Supervisor: FT

This is a full-time position. This position reports to the RV Park Manager at the C-Store. The basic function of this job is to assist the RV Park Manager in the day to day operations of the RV Park, C-Store and Kennel. The supervisor may also assume responsibility for the complete operation of the RV Park, C-Store and Kennel in the absence of the Store Manager. Candidates must have excellent customer service & communication skills, cash handling/computer experience, along with enjoying working with people and pets. Applicants must be available to work split shifts, days, evenings, weekends and holidays.

Grand Canyon Railway Hotel:

Guest Service Agent I: FT

This position is responsible for greeting guests in a friendly manner, guest registration/checkout, collect payment, and provide property information to the guests, and other duties as assigned. Previous public contact work experience, ability to professionally and courteously interact with a broad cross-section of diverse guests, experience with computers and Windows based software, ability to properly and accurately handle cash and credit cards, and good verbal communication skills are a strong plus.

Room Inspector: FT

This full time position is responsible for daily inspection of assigned area at the Grand Depot Hotel (guest rooms, linen rooms, hallways, grounds, etc.) to ensure cleanliness, safety and proper conditions meet or exceed departmental and company standards. The Room Inspector reports conditions and status of guest rooms to Front Desk in an efficient and timely manner. Applicant must be willing and able to perform the duties of Guest Room Attendant, Common Area, Utility and Bell staff. Applicants must be available to work days, weekends and holidays.

Guest Room Attendant/Housekeeper: FT 

This is a full-time position at the GCR Hotel. Duties include, but are not limited to: cleaning and stocking hotel rooms. Applicants must be dependable, hardworking with the ability to push housekeeping cart, and display good work ethics. Applicants must be available to work days, weekends, and holidays.

Guest Room Attendant/Housekeeper: FT (SEASONAL)

This is a full-time seasonal position at the GCR Hotel. Duties include, but are not limited to: cleaning and stocking hotel rooms. Applicants must be dependable, hardworking with the ability to push housekeeping cart, and display good work ethics. Applicants must be available to work days, weekends, and holidays.

Retail Sales Department:

Retail Sales Associate: PT

This is a part-time position.  Applicant must be available to work all shop hours; split-shifts (days/evenings), weekends and holidays. Applicants need to have computer experience and be able to operate point-of-sale terminal which includes cash, credit card, and voucher transactions; also exchanges and refunds.  Must be able to handle stressful situations in a public setting; be physically able to move merchandise (50 lbs. or more) from stockroom to shop display and assist with housekeeping duties of the shop.  Previous retail and/or cash handling experience preferred.

Railway Operations / Williams Depot:

Ticket Agent: PT

This is a part-time position in the Ticketing Office.  Under direction of the Ticketing Supervisor, the Ticketing Agent is responsible for ensuring all daily functions are completed at the Ticket Counter. Duties include but are not limited to: ensuring accurate batching of train tickets, confirming reservations, answering phones, issuing and explaining train tickets to passengers. This position requires good judgment skills and the ability to communicate in a professional manner. Applicant must have a good working knowledge of windows based software; good organizational skills; be a strong team player and have good communication skills; be able to effectively handle stressful situations in a public setting; possess good interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate professionally, effectively and clearly face-to-face, and in written communication.  Two years customer service experience in a hospitality industry; and bilingual skills are a plus. Applicant must be available to work days, evenings, weekends and holidays.

Passenger Service Attendant: PT

This is a full-time position working the day trains. The applicant for this position must have the qualifications as well as willing to be trained and work in all classes of service (coach through luxury). This is a fun job with opportunities to meet worldwide travelers. Good communication skills, ability to work with the public, ability to lift moderate loads and an excellent attitude required. Applicants must be available to work days, weekends and holidays.  Previous customer service and cash handling experience is desired. Daily shuttle is provided from Flagstaff and Ash Fork; based on space availability.

Brakeman: FT

The Brakeman assists the Conductor with safe and efficient train operations including passenger and on board staff safety.  The Brakeman is responsible for safely and efficiently conducting transportation on the company’s rail system and properly representing the company to our passengers and public. Applicant must; be able to communicate clearly and effectively face to face and via hand held radio to all levels of staff or passengers; be able to use good judgment when making decisions regarding passenger safety, equipment, etc.;  be able to work safely with little or no direct supervision;  be able to read and comprehend printed and written material, including equipment operating instructions, safety and first aid instructions, MSDS sheets and manufacturers manuals; be able to add, subtract, multiply or divide whole numbers, fractions, or decimals. This position is contingent upon the ability to successfully complete GCOR class. Requires a valid/clear Arizona Driver’s License.

Car Cleaner: PT

This is a Part Time position; the work schedule for this position is typically from 5:30 PM to 1:30 AM. During Polar season crews may be split between days/night crews. This is truly a cleaning position for the passenger car fleet of the railway! Vacuum and clean seats, carpets and upholstery; polish metal surfaces, sweep and mop floors; empty trash cans; regularly wash interior and exterior of the windows, clean walls, ceilings, restrooms, service areas and exterior of train car; fill fresh water tanks; drain waste water systems using a mechanical pump truck. Job duties include cleaning the Car Shop and when necessary snow removal. This position requires climbing ladders, reaching above shoulder height, stooping, bending, and the use of hand and power tools and equipment. Employment is contingent upon successfully qualifying in Blue Signal class.

AM Carman: FT

The AM Carman is responsible for making inspections, running repairs and servicing of the GCR in-service passenger cars. The AM Carman works the morning hours, without immediate supervision and may be involved in the assembly and makeup of trains following established rules and procedures. Good judgment, good communication skills and the ability to understand written and oral instructions are required. The ability to communicate face-to-face and via hand held radio is a must,  This position is contingent upon the successful completion of GCOR class, the ability to walk trackside a distance of one mile continuously, successfully passing drug screen to meet FRA regulations, and the ability to successfully release a minimum of 5 hand brakes consecutively and efficiently.  A valid/clear Arizona Driver’s License is required.

Food & Beverage Department:

Cashier: PT

This is a part-time position for the Grand Depot Café and/or Java Crossing. This position is responsible for accuracy of cash drawer/deposit and following cash handling practices and policies, greeting guests and seeking how many are in guest’s party; completing side duties, stocking supplies and being a team player. Applicants must be 19 or older with previous customer service and cashiering experience preferred.  Knowledgeable about the various types of beer and wine strongly preferred. Applicants must be available to work days, evenings, weekends and holidays.

Restaurant Server 1: PT

Applicants must be available to work afternoons, evenings, weekends and holidays. The food service at The Grand Depot Cafe is buffet style dining. The Server takes beverage orders, and delivers them to the guests, as well as filling other guest dining requests.  Applicant must; be 19 years of age or older; able to multi-task; be able to lift and carry trays of beverages/plates at shoulder height.  Prefer applicants to have previous experience as a server including previous alcohol servicing experience.

Kitchen Utility GDC: PT

This is a part-time seasonal position at The Grand Depot Café.  Applicant must be available to work days, evenings, weekends and holidays.  Clean dishes, operate dish machine and wash pots.  Physically demanding position requiring bending and lifting and exposure to wet floors occurs.

Culinary Service Manager: FT

This is a full-time kitchen management position.  This position is responsible for the overall efficient shift operation of the Grand Depot Café kitchen, Spenser’s Lounge kitchen, and all banquet functions.  This position spends 75 % food preparation, stocking and organizing; 15 % training; and 10 % administrative functions.  Desired Qualifications:  Three (3) years supervisory or lead cook experience in high volume ala carte dining or an institutional establishment;  ability to train kitchen personnel in all areas of operation; written and verbal communication skills; experience in menu development, food production records, scheduling and inventory/cost controls; experience in MS Word and Excel.  This position requires shift flexibility including working days, nights, weekends, and holidays.

Train Prep: PT

This is a part-time position working days, weekends and Holidays. Prepare menu/recipe items to GCR standards and specifications. Always follow the recipe manual when preparing food. Maintain a clean, safe and sanitary work area. Communicate with ticketing for train and car counts. Establish prep needs based on counts. Prepare all special event trays and fruit platters for the menu. Follow the proper first in first out (FIFO) rotation for stored foods. Keep prep area swept, mopped and free of water. Keep shelving and storage areas clean and organized. Utilize all systems such as train prep sheets, car capacity, food weights and waste sheets. Perform all daily cleaning assignments on Cleaning Schedule and Closing Checklist. Applicants must be able to lift up to 25 lbs. on a continual basis and be able to lift up to 70 lbs. several times per day. Perform repetitive motions for up to 45 minutes at a time.

Cook 1: FT

Thorough knowledge and experience with all stations and equipment in the kitchen including batch production, prep, pantry and dish; previous cooking experience in a high volume ala carte or batch production setting; ability to produce items to standard following menu recipe(s) for set menu and banquet items; ability to successfully complete Serv-Safe HACCP food sanitation course; possess physical ability to perform the tasks; ability to provide training to lower level Cook grades; ability to carry out duties on any station in the kitchen; and good verbal communication skills and ability to train personnel in basic cooking techniques is desired. Candidate must be at least 18 years of age or older.

Cook 2: FT

This is a full-time, mid-level cook position in the Grand Depot Cafe. Previous three (3) years experience as a cook in high volume ala carte dining or institutional cooking experience preferred. Applicants should have basic knife skills and be knowledgeable in food service sanitation. Applicants must be available to work days, evenings, weekends and holidays.

Cook 4: FT

This is a part-time entry-level cooking position in the Grand Depot Cafe.  Previous one (1) year or less experience as a cook in fast food industry or high volume ala carte dining or institutional cooking experience preferred.  Applicants should have basic knife skills and be knowledgeable in food service sanitation. Applicants must be available to work days, evenings, weekends and holidays.

Facilities & Maintenance Department:

Groundskeeper: FT

Desired candidate will possess; minimum one-year experience in turf and shrub care or landscape maintenance, knowledge of lawn care equipment including use and maintenance, physical ability to complete tasks including ability to push lawn mower, load clippings, ascend and descend ladders, ability to work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions including summer heat and winter storms. A valid/Clear AZ Driver’s License is required.

Painter II: FT

This position reports to the Maintenance Manager.  The qualified applicant will have a minimum of three years experience as a commercial painter, be able to prepare all types of surfaces for painting including tape and texture of drywall, and possess an Arizona Driver’s License.  Working knowledge of National Fire Code requirements pertaining to storage and use of paint products a plus.  This is a full time position painting exterior and interior surfaces, maintaining a high level of quality control.  Physical requirements of the job include ascending/descending ladders, lifting and carrying loads of 50+ lbs. unassisted, and repetitive motions.

General Maintenance Engineer II: FT

This is a full-time position in the Maintenance department. Duties include general maintenance requests, ensuring timely completion, thoroughness and cost effectiveness. Assist in maintaining water softeners according to preventive maintenance schedule in designated areas, including maintaining salt inventory. Handle multiple call-outs or work orders, work independently and perform trade call outs as necessary. Operate designated heavy equipment safely and efficiently as necessary and directed. Perform second level maintenance and repairs as related to the preventive maintenance program. Ability to perform second level trade functions such as electrical motor trouble shooting to 220 volts, plumbing, refrigeration/HVAC, basic boiler operation and kitchen equipment repair. Complete Lock Out / Tag Out Training. Perform basic carpentry and painting duties as necessary and directed. Report maintenance problems in an accurate fashion that require trade specific skill and attention. Adhere to all safety, risk management and environmental policies and procedures. Wear all required personal protective equipment in carrying out assigned tasks. Work various shifts as required. Assist in the training and development of lower General Maintenance grades. Minimum three-year’ experience in general building maintenance, or in trades such as electrical, refrigeration, plumbing, etc…  Competent in all areas of the position: General Maintenance III, knowledge of concrete, tile and basic welding. Position requires a valid Arizona driver’s license to be able to comply with the Xanterra/GCR Company Vehicle Policy.
