Public Area Attendant: FT
This is a full-time position at the GCR Hotel. Duties include the cleanliness of the hotel and public areas (lobby, vending machines, etc.), including but not limited to: restocking supplies, transporting laundry carts, and lifting items weighing up to 60 lbs. Applicants must be available to work days, evenings, weekends and holidays.
Staffing Manager: FT
Position primarily is responsible for filling approved/open positions with qualified personnel in a timely manner. Effective communication and organizational skills are key. Responsibilities include coordinating recruiting process (timely placement of advertising/job fair attendance, etc.); pre-screening and interviewing qualified applicants; verifying employment eligibility, and extending job offers. This position also provides support for HR-related programs; policies and initiatives in a variety of HR related functions and special projects. Strong staffing and recruiting background with generalist experience preferred to assist with employee related matters. Position reports to Dir. of Human Resources. Individual must have excellent interpersonal and problem solving skills, including excellent verbal and written communication skills. Accuracy and attention to detail are a must. Position requires the ability to handle sensitive information in a confidential manner. Bilingual language skills (English/Spanish) are a plus. Must be proficient in Word and Excel and have the ability to learn and use new software effectively. Lawson, Kronos & Outlook experience a plus.

Retail Sales Associate: PT
These are part time positions in either the Depot or Café retail shops. Must be able to work all shop hours, holidays and weekends. Applicants need to have computer experience and be able to operate point-of-sale terminal which includes cash, credit card, and voucher transactions; also exchanges and refunds. Must be able to handle stressful situations in a public setting; be physically able to move merchandise from stockroom to shop display and assist with housekeeping duties of the shop. Previous cash handling experience preferred.

This is part time position in the Depot Retail Shop, and/or Grand Depot Café Gift Shop beginning ASAP and ending approximately January 6,2014. Applicant must be able to work all shop hours, including holidays and weekends; be able to handle stressful situations in a public setting; be physically able to move merchandise from stockroom to shop display and assist with housekeeping duties of the shop. Environmental Health & Safety Department:
Train Operations / Williams Depot:
The Brakeman assists the Conductor with safe and efficient train operations including passenger and on board staff safety. The Brakeman is responsible for safely and efficiently conducting transportation on the company’s rail system and properly representing the company to our passengers and public. Applicant must; be able to communicate clearly and effectively face to face and via hand held radio to all levels of staff or passengers; be able to use good judgment when making decisions regarding passenger safety, equipment, etc.; be able to work safely with little or no direct supervision; be able to read and comprehend printed and written material, including equipment operating instructions, safety and first aid instructions, MSDS sheets and manufacturers manuals; be able to add, subtract, multiply or divide whole numbers, fractions, or decimals. This position is contingent upon the ability to successfully complete GCOR class. Requires a valid/clear Arizona Driver’s License.
The fireman is responsible for assisting the Engineer with the safe and efficient operation of the diesel locomotives, passenger & work trains .Must possess a valid/clear Arizona Driver’s License and comply with Xanterra/GCR Vehicle policy; be able to successfully complete GCOR class; have knowledge of general operating procedures and ability to be trained to accurately operate equipment and tools necessary to perform the job duties; be able to read printed and written material, including instructions for operation of equipment, safety and first aid instructions, MSDS sheets and manufacturers manuals; be flexible in carrying out daily job duties and able to organize and prioritize tasks; knowledge of policies, procedures, philosophies, rules and regulations governing the delivery of services to customers; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers, other departments and guests; ability to deal courteously and diplomatically with guests and staff; be able climb ladders, carry 50lbs, and work in inclement weather.;. Employment is contingent upon applicant’s ability to successfully pass GCOR class and certify Blue Signal class & ability to walk trackside a distance of one mile continuously without stops within 15 minutes
Food & Beverage Department:
Assistant Kitchen Manager: FT
This is a full-time assistant kitchen management position. The primary function of this position is the overall efficient operation of the Grand Depot Café and Spenser’s kitchens and all banquet functions. This position must divide their time between insuring the guest experience is first and foremost, cook line operations, developing recipes, active line cooking, labor management, product storage HACCP and FIFO guidelines are followed. Desire Qualifications: Two (2) years Sous chef or head chef in a high volume buffet setting with action stations or institutional establishment; ability to train kitchen personnel in all areas of operation; written and verbal communication skills to effectively motivate the staff to the expected Xanterra’s standard of excellence in guest service; experience in menu development, food production records, scheduling and inventory/cost controls; experience in MS Word and Excel. This position requires shift flexibility including working days, evenings, weekends, and holidays. This position requires a valid/clear Arizona Driver’s License.
This is a part-time position at Spenser’s. This position requires that the employee be able to work as early as 5:45 AM – 11:00 AM possibly 5 days a week. Prepare and serve coffee (espresso & cappuccino style); and other non-alcoholic beverages, and food products (Danishes & muffins) for guests at Spenser’s Java Crossing. Preference for applicants who are at least 19 years of age with cash handling experience and previous coffee house or espresso shop experience. Applicant must be able to lift about 30 lbs; and must be available to work scheduled hours: split shifts, days, evenings, weekends and holidays.
Barista Platform: FT SEASONAL
This is a full-time seasonal position on the Platform starting November 21, 2013 and ending approximately December 29, 2013. This is an evening shift. Prepare and serve coffee and other beverages, and some food products. Previous cash handling and coffee house or espresso shop experience preferred. Applicant must be able to lift about 30 lbs; and must be available to work scheduled hours: split shifts, days, evenings, weekends and holidays.
Bartender Spenser’s: FT SEASONAL
This is a full-time seasonal Host position starting November 21, 2013 and ending approximately December 29, 2013. This position is based in Spenser’s Pub located inside the Grand Canyon Railway Hotel. The Bartender is responsible for providing prompt, efficient and courteous beverage service to guests ensuring proper mixology, portion control and content information to guests. This position is also required to work as a Server in Spenser’s when needed. Candidate must; be at least 19 years of age; be able to successfully complete company sponsored alcohol awareness training and apply methods learned; must be flexible to work days, evenings, weekends and holidays as scheduled. Previous experience bartending and serving or cocktail serving, and handling cash transactions, is a plus.
Cook 1: FT SEASONAL
This is full time seasonal position at Spenser’s beginning approximately November 21,2013 and ending approximately December 29,2013. Thorough knowledge and experience with all stations and equipment in the kitchen including batch production, prep, pantry and dish; previous cooking experience in a high volume ala carte or batch production setting; ability to produce items to standard following menu recipe(s) for set menu and banquet items; ability to successfully complete Serv-Safe HACCP food sanitation course; possess physical ability to perform the tasks; ability to provide training to lower level Cook grades; ability to carry out duties on any station in the kitchen; and good verbal communication skills and ability to train personnel in basic cooking techniques is desired. Candidate must be at least 18 years of age or older.
Cook 2: FT SEASONAL
This is full time seasonal position beginning approximately November 21,2013 and ending approximately December 29,2013. This is a mid-level cook position in the Grand Depot Cafe. Previous three (3) years experience as a cook in high volume ala carte dining or institutional cooking experience preferred. Applicants should have basic knife skills and be knowledgeable in food service sanitation. Applicants must be available to work days, evenings, weekends and holidays.
Host: FT SEASONAL
This is a full-time seasonal Host position starting November 21, 2013 and ending approximately December 29, 2013. Applicant must be available to work days, evenings, weekends and holidays. This position is responsible for greeting and seating guest appropriately and efficiently; complete side duties and be a team player. Responsible to meet, greet and seat guests in Grand Depot Café and other duties as assigned.
Kitchen Steward: FT SEASONAL
This is a full-time seasonal position starting November 21, 2013 and ending approximately December 29, 2013 at The Grand Depot Café. The Steward works with all distributors with deliveries and ensure product is acceptable and matches invoice, properly puts all orders away with the assistance of Manager On Duty.
Server Spenser’s: FT SEASONAL
This is a full-time seasonal position starting November 21, 2013 and ending approximately December 29, 2013 at Spenser’s. Applicants must be available to work afternoons, evenings, weekends and holidays. The food service at Spenser’s is menu order. The Server takes beverage and meal orders, including alcoholic beverages, and delivers them to the guests, as well as filling other guest dining requests. Applicant must be able to multi-task; be able to lift and carry tray of beverages/plates at shoulder height. Prefer applicants to be over 21 with previous alcohol servicing experience.
Server: FT SEASONAL
This is a full-time seasonal position starting November 21, 2013 and ending approximately December 29, 2013 at the Grand Depot Café. Applicants must be available to work afternoons, evenings, weekends and holidays. The food service at The Grand Depot Cafe is buffet style dining. The Server takes beverage orders, and delivers them to the guests, as well as filling other guest dining requests. Applicant must; be 19 years of age or older; able to multi-task; be able to lift and carry trays of beverages/plates at shoulder height. Prefer applicants to have previous experience as a server including previous alcohol servicing experience.
Facilities & Maintenance Department:
Maintenance Engineer III: FT
Applicants must be available to work days, evenings, nights, weekends and holidays. One-year experience in general maintenance or in trades such as electrical, plumbing or carpentry is preferred. Maintenance personnel maintain the roofing, plumbing, mechanical, environmental and electrical systems. Additional duties include construction projects, painting, custodial functions and baggage handling. Personnel drive motor vehicles and motorized specialty equipment such as mowers, sweepers and electric service vehicles. This position also requires the use of hand tools, power tools and safety equipment. Position requires a valid Arizona driver’s license to be able to comply with the Xanterra/GCR Company Vehicle Policy.
General Maintenance Engineer III: FT SEASONAL
This is a seasonal full-time position which is scheduled to work from September 3, 2013 approximately through January 15, 2014. This position will be assigned to Polar duties that include but are not limited to: installing/removing decorations for Polar season on property, buildings and railways equipment, shovel snow, traffic control, general maintenance and clean-up; delivery of food and supplies, and the support of passenger train operations. Possess physical ability to perform tasks of the position including entering confined spaces, ascending/descending ladder, lifting up to 100 pounds and occasionally crawling, pushing and pulling. Applicants must be available to work days, evenings, weekends and holidays. One-year experience in general maintenance or in trades such as electrical, plumbing or carpentry is preferred. Position requires a valid Arizona driver’s license to be able to comply with the Xanterra/GCR Company Vehicle Policy.
