In celebration of National Train Day, the Grand Canyon Railway (GCR) and the Grand Canyon Chapter of the National Railway Historical Society will host a two-day event May 8-9, 2010 featuring rides pulled by a steam locomotive powered by vegetable oil, model railroad displays, a 7-1/2 inch gauge live steam locomotive and computer-based simulations from the engineer’s point of view.

Rates for Grand Canyon Railway packages will drop two times this winter – on Nov. 1, 2009 and again on Jan. 3, 2010. The rates for packages – which include train travel, accommodations and more – drop as much as 26 percent during the historic train’s winter season.

The Grand Canyon Railway will commemorate the 20^th anniversary of its rebirth Sept. 19, 2009 with a special roundtrip run to the Grand Canyon of its Steam Locomotive 4960 fueled by recycled vegetable oil.
