Human Resources Department:

Human Resources Manager; FT

This position requires an individual, who is organized, motivated, exhibits a positive attitude, enjoys a fast paced work environment, and is knowledgeable of principles and practices of personnel administration. Position reports to the Dir. of HR, and currently supervises three staff members. You must possess the ability to effectively manage and administer a broad range of responsibilities, including employee relations, benefits administration, recordkeeping, reporting, implementation of policies and procedures, and training. Individual must have excellent interpersonal and problem solving skills, including excellent verbal and written communication skills. Accuracy and attention to detail are a must. Position requires the ability to handle sensitive information in a confidential manner. HR Generalist experience preferred with emphasis on employee relations. Bilingual language skills (English/Spanish) are a plus. Must be proficient in Word and Excel and have the ability to learn and use new software effectively. Lawson, Kronos & Outlook experience a plus.

Grand Canyon Railway Hotel:

Guest Service Agent; FT 
This is a full time position at the Hotel Front Desk and applicant must be able to work days, evenings, nights, weekends and holidays. This position requires experience with computers and Windows-type software. The qualified applicant must have the ability to work professionally and courteously with a broad cross-section of diverse people. Our GSA’s provide information on GCR property store, café hours & activities and Grand Canyon National Park information to guests; register guests; post charges; collect payment; maintain bank; do end of shift bank balance and deposits; maintain strict guest security. You will work closely with Unit Housekeeping department and Bell Staff.

Public Area Attendant; PT
This part time position will primarily work 3:00 PM – 10:00 PM shift and is responsible for the cleanliness of the hotel and public areas (lobby, vending machines, etc.), including but not limited to: restocking supplies, transporting laundry carts, and lifting items weighing up to 60 lbs. Applicants must be available to work days, evenings, weekends and holidays.duties of the shop. Previous retail and/or cash handling experience preferred.

Retail Sales Department:

Retail Store Manager; FT

Under direction of Retail Director this position is responsible for managing all aspects of assigned retail unit(s). Schedule and supervise store staff. Maintain labor budget/margins throughout the year. Welcome new staff; discuss store objectives, procedures and policies with new employees. Work with Retail Director and store staffs training cash handling, including mandated refresher training and all safety, risk management and environmental training as required. Prepare and complete store inventories as necessary. Oversee daily cashier deposits, and assist cashiers as necessary with cash register system, maintaining all accounting policies & procedures. Applicants must have at least one-year retail supervisory experience in a high volume retail store. Experience in product display, product ordering, inventory control and loss control procedures. Computerized cash register/point of sale system experience including training and troubleshooting. Good verbal communication skills with ability to professionally and courteously interact with a broad cross-section of employees and guests. Basic accounting skills with financial analysis experience and extensive cash handling/deposit experience.
Warehouse Clerk II; FT
Duties include, but are not limited to: receiving and shipping merchandise from vendors and distributing merchandise to the retail stores. Checking in and pricing warehouse merchandise and supplies and putting merchandise into stock to ensure ongoing rotation of goods. Assists with scheduled inventories, provides ongoing janitorial duties of the retail warehouse and purchasing areas. Applicants must have prior experience using forklifts; and must possess good organizational skills. Must be physically able to safely lift 50 pounds and have the ability to complete tasks without close supervision.

Grand Canyon Railway Operations/Depot:

Carman (PM);  FT
The Carman (PM) will switch locomotives and passenger cars to make up next days train. The position is responsible for making minor repairs and servicing of the Grand Canyon Railway in-service passenger cars. The Carman will relieve the conductor and brakeman and discuss any problems with the passenger cars that day and make all necessary repairs that night. If any major repairs are needed, Carman must call their supervisor and/or switch the car out with another in-service passenger car. Carman must also be able to bend over and crawl under the cars repeatedly to inspect and perform necessary maintenance repairs.
Diesel Train Engineer; FT
This position is full-time and reports to the Assistant Trainmaster and will predominately work the evening shift. This position is responsible for the safe and efficient operations of the diesel locomotives and passenger cars. Preferred certified railroad engineer with the ability to make up and move passenger cars and locomotives. Must be qualified GCR certified engineer within 60 days. Applicant must have the ability to communicate effectively (face-to-face) and via handheld radio. Possess good interpersonal skills to ensure professional communication and positive interactions with employees and direct reports. Applicants must be available work flexible hours, days, evenings, weekends, holidays and overtime as required (with or without advanced notice).

Facilities Maintenance & Grounds:

Painter I; FT

This position reports to the Maintenance Manager. The qualified applicant will have a minimum of four (4) years experience as a commercial painter, be able to prepare all types of surfaces for painting including tape and texture of drywall, and possess an Arizona Driver’s License. Working knowledge of National Fire Code requirements pertaining to storage and use of paint products a plus. This is a full time position painting exterior and interior surfaces, maintaining a high level of quality control. Physical requirements of the job include ascending/descending ladders, lifting and carrying loads of 50+ lbs unassisted, and repetitive motions.

Maintenance Engineer III; FT (Seasonal)
This is a seasonal full-time position which is scheduled to work from September 1, 2010 through January 15, 2011. This position will be assigned to Polar duties that include but are not limited to: installing/removing decorations for Polar season on property, buildings and railways equipment, shovel snow, traffic control, general maintenance and clean-up; delivery of food and supplies, and the support of passenger train operations. Possess physical ability to perform tasks of the position including entering confined spaces, ascending/descending ladder, lifting up to 100 pounds and occasionally crawling, pushing and pulling. Applicants must be available to work days, evenings, weekends and holidays. One-year experience in general maintenance or in trades such as electrical, plumbing or carpentry is preferred. Position requires a valid Arizona driver’s license to be able to comply with the Xanterra/GCR Company Vehicle Policy.

Tool Room Attendant; FT
This is a full-time position in Maintenance (BLD & GRDS). This position is responsible for the tool crib area, cleaning and maintaining tools, keeping records of tools and equipment and inventory control in the tool crib to prevent shortages. In addition, responsible for maintaining a disciplined practice for data entry in the Infor System with accurate and grammatically correct information for parts description and supplier, and other information as required. Applicants must have the ability to communicate effectively (face-to-face) and via handheld radio. This position requires a High School diploma or equivalent and 1-2 years work-related experience or combination. Applicants must be physically able to sit for long periods of time, lift and carry loads of 50+ pounds unassisted and perform work with repetitive motions. Applicants must be available to work days, weekends and holidays. Position requires a valid Arizona driver’s license to be able to comply with the Xanterra/GCR Company Vehicle Policy. 

Food & Beverage Department:

Restaurant Manager; FT
Under direction of Director Food & Beverage this position is responsible for supervising the floor and overseeing the daily operation of Grand Depot Café, Spenser’s Pub and Java Crossing/Java Platform. This includes all aspects of guest service, cleanliness of the restaurant facilities and building employee relationships with communication skills to effectively motivate the staff to the expected Xanterra's standard of excellence in guest service. In addition, this position supports the Director Food & Beverage with advanced administrative responsibilities including Kronos, accurately logging invoices; track uniform usage and oversee Java Crossing & Java Platform supplies. Thorough knowledge of food & beverage service; three (3) years experience in food service management; experience in MS Word and Excel. This person will be working as a floor manager 65% of the time and 35% training & administrative duties. This position requires shift flexibility including working days, evenings, weekends and holidays.

Expeditor; PT
The “Expo” is a part-time position responsible for sorting dishes at the dish tank in the kitchen. Applicant must be available to work days, evenings, weekends and holidays. The Server brings in trays or tubs of used dishes from the tables and hands them off to the Expo who empties the tray or tub for the kitchen utility staff to clean. This is a very busy position and the qualified candidate will need to be able to lift 30 to 40 lbs frequently during the shift. Occasionally the Expo will help the Servers in the dining room by clearing tables for them and carrying the bus tubs to the kitchen.

Barista; PT
This position is part-time Barista position at Java Crossing Platform; from 7:00 AM – 11:00 AM and/or 2:30 PM -7:00 PM; possibly 5 days a week. Prepare and serve coffee and other non-alcoholic beverages, packaged food products and ice cream to guests. Previous coffee house or espresso shop experience, and cash handling preferred. Applicant must be able to lift about 30 lbs. and must be available to work split-shifts, days, evenings, weekends and holidays.
