Cashier; 1-FT PM (10/23)
This is a full-time PM Cashier position for the Grand Depot Café; may include some Host shifts. Must be available to work days and evenings; weekends and holidays. Applicants must be 18 or older as they may be required to sell wine or beer. Previous customer service and cashiering experience preferred.
Bartender2; 1 PT PM (10/23)
Full-time evening position available at Spenser’s Lounge. Experience is preferred. Applicants must be available to work weekends and holidays.
Barista; 1 PT AM (10/23) & 3 PT PM (starting 11/09)
To provide friendly and efficient coffee and beverage service to guests of Grand Canyon Railway. Perform opening and closing duties as stated on Opening and Closing Duties Check List. Count opening bank to insure accuracy. Turn on all equipment. Restock all product used throughout the day including beverage products, snacks, and other supplies. Prepare all coffee and espresso drinks for guest consumption. Perform cleaning duties as stated on the Weekly Cleaning List. Greet all guests with a smile, and provide prompt and efficient service. Accurately take order from guest, entering data into the computer accurately. Take payment (money, credit/debit cards) and make change efficiently and accurately.
Host; 1 PT AM 1 PT PM (starting 11/09)
AM Shift is from 6 – 11 am. PM Shift is from 4-9 pm. Must work weekends and holidays. Primary responsibilities are to meet, greet and seat guests in Grand Depot Café.
Server; 2 PT AM & 2 PT PM(10/23)
2 PT AM 2PT PM (starting 11/09) & 1 PT AM 1 PT PM (starting 11/15)
Shifts could be a.m. (6 to about 11 a.m.) or p.m. (4 to about 9 p.m.) and you must be able to work weekends and holidays. The food service in the Grand Depot Café is buffet style. PM servers must be at least 19 years old. The Server takes beverage orders, including alcoholic beverages, and delivers them to the guests, as well as filling other guest requests. Must be able to multi-task. Must be able to lift and carry tray of beverages at shoulder height. Previous Server experience strongly preferred.
Cook 2; 1 FT AM (10/23)
These are full-time, mid to upper level cook positions in the Grand Depot Cafe. Previous high volume ala carte dining or institutional cooking experience preferred. Applicants must have basic knife skills, follow recipes and be knowledgeable in food service sanitation. Applicants must be available to work weekends and holidays.
Cook 3; 1 FT PM (11/9)
This position works the PM shift: 1 or 2 p.m. until 9:30 or 10:30 p.m., full-time in the Grand Depot Cafe. Previous high volume ala carte dining or institutional cooking experience preferred. Applicants should have basic knife skills and be knowledgeable in food service sanitation. Applicants must be available to work weekends and holidays.

These are part-time entry-level cooking positions in the Grand Depot Cafe. Previous high volume ala carte dining or institutional cooking experience preferred. Applicants should have basic knife skills and be knowledgeable in food service sanitation. Applicants must be available to work weekends and holidays.
Cook 3; 1 FT PM (9/30), 2 PT PM (starting 11/9)
This position works the PM shift: 1 or 2 p.m. until 9:30 or 10:30 p.m., full-time in the Spenser’s Lounge kitchen. Previous cooking experience required. Types of food that are prepared include: pizza, sandwiches, pasta dishes, and appetizers. Applicants should have basic knife skills and be knowledgeable in food service sanitation. Applicants must be available to work weekends and holidays.
Kitchen Utility; 1 FT AM & 1FT PM (10/23, 11/9 & 11/15), 2 PT PM (Spensers– 11/9)
The AM shift is from 5:30am until about 1:30 p.m. and PM shift is 2 pm – 10:30 pm at the Grand Depot Café. PT PM positions also available in Spensers (see HR for details). Must be available to work weekends and holidays. Clean dishes, operate dish machine, and wash pots. Physically demanding position requiring bending and lifting; exposure to wet floors occurs.
Expediter; 1 PT PM & 1 PT AM (9/30, 10/23, 11/9) & 2 PT AM 2 PT PM (11/15)
The “Expo” is responsible for sorting dishes at the dish tank in the kitchen. The Server brings in trays or tubs of used dishes from the tables and hands them off to the Expo who empties the tray or tub for the kitchen utility staff to clean. This is a very busy position and the qualified candidate will need to be able to lift 30 to 40 lbs frequently during the shift. Occasionally the Expo will help the Servers in the dining room by clearing tables for them and carrying the bus tubs to the kitchen. Applicants must be available to work weekends and holidays.
Train Prep; 2 PT AM (10/16)
Prepare menu/recipe items to GCR standards and specifications. Always follow the recipe manual when preparing food. Maintain a clean safe and sanitary work area. Communicate with ticketing (ext. 1000) for train and car counts. Establish prep needs based on counts. Prepare all special event trays and fruit platters for the menu. Follow the proper first in first out (FIFO) rotation for stored foods. Keep prep area swept, mopped and free of water. Keep shelving and storage areas clean and organized. Utilize all systems such as train prep sheets, car capacity, food weights and waste sheets. Perform all daily cleaning assignments on Cleaning Schedule. Perform all daily cleaning assignments on Closing CheckList. Lifting up to 25 lbs on a continual basis and be able to lift up to 70 lbs several times per day. Perform repetitive motions for up to 45 minutes at a time.
Human Resources Department:
HR Generalist; 1 FT (9/25)
Position reports to the Dir. of HR. HR Generalist experience preferred. Generalist provides support for HR-related programs, policies and initiatives in a variety of HR related functions. Emphasis on recruiting and employee relations. Individual must have excellent interpersonal and problem solving skills, including excellent verbal and written communication skills. Accuracy and attention to detail are a must. Position requires the ability to handle sensitive information in a confidential manner. Bilingual language skills (English/Spanish) are a plus. Must be proficient in Word and Excel and have the ability to learn and use new software effectively. Lawson, Kronos & Outlook experience a plus.
Grand Canyon Railway Hotel:
Night Audit; 1 FT (10/09)
This is a full-time evening position from 11pm – 7 am, Thursday through Sunday. This position requires experience with computers and Windows-type software and have previous night audit experience. The qualified applicant must have the ability to work professionally and courteously with a broad cross-section of diverse people. Our night audit must also be knowledgeable of front desk procedures including GCR property and Grand Canyon National Park information to guests; registering guests; posting charges; collecting payment; maintaining bank; doing end of shift bank balance and deposits; and maintaining strict guest security.
Housekeepers; 3 FT (10/23) & 1 FT (11/12)
Duties include, but are not limited to: cleaning and stocking hotel rooms. Applicants must be dependable, hardworking, and display good work ethics. Applicants must be available to work weekends and holidays.
Retail Sales Department:
Retail Sales Associate; 3 PT (11/2/09)
This is a part-time retail associate position for the Grand Depot Café & Depot Retail Outlets. Applicants must have a pleasant outgoing personality, good communication skills, and enjoy working with the public. Customer service experience is preferred, but not required. Applicants must be willing to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Facilities Maintenance & Grounds:
Facilities Maintenance Dispatcher 1FT (10/16)
The basic function of this position is to manage the daily activity associated with the operation of the CMMS System. Additional duties include but are not limited to providing dispatch and administrative support functions to the Facilities Maintenance Department. Maintain a current operational status in the CMMS system.Maintain a disciplined mythology for information (data) entry into the CMMS system. Receive and input work order requests into the CMMS System. Dispatch and clear maintenance work orders with attention to acquiring accurate and complete detailed information. Process purchase order activity. Previous secretarial or administrative assistant experience in a high volume office setting. Experience with Word and Excel software, with ability to build spreadsheets. Basic accounting skills. Strong organizational skills. Ability to multi-task. Ability to make decisions based on available information. Ability to escalate a specific situation when necessary. Punctual and reliable. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Good interpersonal skills. Knowledge of basic maintenance/building trades duties is helpful. Knowledge of GCRW property layout. Possess a valid Arizona Driver s License, and comply with the Xanterra Company Vehicle Policy.
Ticket Agent 1 FT (10/9)
This is a full time position. Shifts are 10 hours/4 days a week, 8 a.m. – 6:30 p.m. and include weekends. Winter Polar Express hours require evening shifts until 10 p.m. in November, December and January. Make reservations in person and via telephone; provide information about GCR, So. Rim, and Williams areas; must have computer skills, cash handling, and customer service experience.
Car Cleaner; 2 FT (10/23)
This position begins around 5 or 6 p.m. until about midnight. This is truly a cleaning position for the passenger car fleet of the railway! Vacuum carpets; empty trash cans; wash windows; clean walls, ceilings, upholstery, carpets, restrooms, service areas and exterior of train car; fill fresh water tanks; drain waste water systems using a mechanical pump truck. This position requires climbing ladders, reaching above shoulder height, stooping, bending, and use of hand and power tools/equipment. Applicants must be available to work weekends, and holidays.
