Great Arizona Summer Promotion Ends

Rush for Tickets Ends Great Arizona Summer Promotion Early

WILLIAMS, ARIZ. (June 30, 2006)—We all "steam" for ice cream was most definitely this summer's, or at least June's, motto! When Shamrock Farms and Grand Canyon Railway invited consumers to collect lids from Shamrock Farms' Arizona-inspired Premium Ice Cream line in exchange for FREE tickets aboard Grand Canyon Railway, the companies received an unexpectedly amazing consumer response.

Only three weeks into the promotion, scheduled to run from June 12 - Sept. 12, 2006, Shamrock Farms has distributed all of the available Grand Canyon Railway tickets.

"From the first day of the promotion, we were receiving multiple mail bins overflowing with people's ice cream lid packages," said CiCi Cea, spokesperson for Shamrock Farms. "Although we had a generous supply of tickets provided by the Railway, the promotion was very popular so they went fast."

Great Arizona Summer was promoted as having a set supply of tickets available on a first-come, first-serve basis while supplies lasted. Promotion duration and effort required to earn Railway tickets were based on historic promotions. Both Grand Canyon Railway and Shamrock Farms attribute the "mad dash" for tickets to the great offer, an e-mail blast sent to approximately 70,000 consumers and the fact that the blogging community picked up the promotion. The deal was featured on many sites, including FatWallet.com.

"We were so excited that consumers embraced this promotion and we look forward to creating future successful promotions," said Angela Berrigan, vice president of sales and marketing for Grand Canyon Railway.

Based on the tremendous demand for the promotion, both Shamrock Farms and Grand Canyon Railway hope to do something similar for summer 2007.

"We never anticipated this type of response. We're so excited that the promotion was so popular, and it's great learning to know that our consumers are particularly interested in this program," said Cea.
