Grand Canyon Railway Expands Its Operations
WILLIAMS, ARIZ. - Grand Canyon Railway is adding to its resort amenities with the development of a RV Park and Pet Resort at its property. Opening in early 2006, Grand Canyon Railway RV Park is located just west of the historic Williams Depot and opposite the famed Cataract Creek. Nature paths and a shuttle will take guests from the RV Park to the Depot, where Grand Canyon Railway begins its daily journey to the South Rim of the Grand Canyon and where there are several opportunities to photograph the Railway's vintage steam and diesel engines, and passenger cars. This facility is adjacent to and an easy walk to Williams Visitor Center and Historic Downtown area, including Route 66. When not enjoying the sights and sounds of trains, guests can make use of the park's many community features. The most impressive feature is a 72-seat pavilion with gas grills, picnic tables and a fire pit where Grand Canyon Railway plans to host evening activities. "When developing our RV Park, it was very important to us to create a sense of community, not just spaces for people to hook-up to for a night here or there," said David Chambers, president of Grand Canyon Railway. Additional community features include a full-service convenience store, laundry, and shower and restroom facilities. Recreational activities also abound with community volleyball and basketball courts as well as horseshoe pits and kids playground. Equally impressive are Grand Canyon Railway RV Park's state-of-the-art private spaces. The park is comprised of 124 spaces featuring ample room for slideouts as well as buddy spaces for traveling companions and full hook-ups, including wireless Internet and satellite television. Several recreational vehicle spaces also feature an uninterrupted view of the BNSF line, which carries up to ten mixed-consist trains through Williams every day. And while many RV properties are known as pet-friendly, Grand Canyon Railway's Pet Resort downright pampers pets. Guests who prefer not to leave their loved one alone when riding the train or exploring historic Route 66 in downtown Williams, can check them into a Pet Resort. This is especially ideal for RV Park guests looking to stay overnight at the Grand Canyon. Grand Canyon Railway's Pet Resort offers 28 rooms for dogs and 16 comfortable rooms for cats. Both dogs and cats are kept cool and comfortable with central air conditioning during summer months and heat in the winter. The Pet Resort's canine guests also enjoy interactive group and individual playtime in the exercise yard during their stay as well as the opportunity for a doggie wash. The Pet Resort is available to guests of both the RV Park and Grand Canyon Railway Hotel. Grand Canyon Railway operates daily train service between Williams, Ariz. and the Grand Canyon. The Railway offers five distinct classes of service, as well as money-saving packages featuring the Grand Canyon Railway Hotel in Williams. Overnight stays at the Grand Canyon also can be included in the packages. Grand Canyon Railway is an authorized concessioner of the National Park Service and the Kaibab National Forest.
